Ontario Plastics, Inc was founded in 1946 by Richard L. Hayes in Rochester, NY and has grown to serve an international base of distinguished and loyal customers from diverse industries such as electronics, aerospace, business machines, and medical.
1946 OPI founded by Richard L. Hayes & John F. Spitznagel with only $5,000 and our first molding job begins: clothespins!
1950 Molded RT French Co. Hot Dan mustard spoons
1951 Molded Rochester Savings Bank replica banks
1954 Began molding Paula Sue and Howdy Doody Dolls
1968 Established the Plastic Box line of products
1971 Leo J. Hayes and Michael J. Hayes assumed control of the company after Richard L. Hayes passed away
1990 Awarded Eastman Kodak "Silver Supplier" and Bernzomatic "Certified Supplier" status
1995 Ownership transferred to third generation
1997 Installed MRP software system; Gerard Reynolds certified as Lead Auditor (BSI)
2000 Achieved UL Certification for trace ability
2001 Achieved ISO 9001-2000 certification from BVQI; new calibration and SPC software installed
2002 Awarded Eastman Kodak "Certified Supplier" status (first injection molder to be recognized) after being recognized as a "Valued Supplier" in 1989, a "Silver Supplier" in 1990, a "Recommended" and "Gold Supplier" in 1991
2004 Kaizen training for supervisors completed; purchased three newer and larger machines
2005 Installed new TESA micro-hite 3D CMM
2006 New ERP system installed- IQMS Enterprise IQ
2009 Significant upgrades made to resin mixing, drying, and delivery systems
2010 Recertified to ISO 9001:  2008
2011 Significant upgrades made to cooling tower and water cooling system
2012 Added vertical press molding capability
2014 All key molding technicians trained in scientific molding
2015 New Keyence Vision System (detects in-process rejects) installed
2015 Significant capacity and capability upgrades made to Value-added (secondary operations) Department
